People We’ve Helped

People who benefit from our land management services are new or aspiring farmers, landowners who want to grow food, and prospective property buyers.

Examples of people we’ve helped:

  • Jessie was keen to begin keeping goats for vegetation management on her small acreage but felt overwhelmed by the learning curve. We helped her select appropriate animals for her starter herd that matched her grazing needs and her time and money budgets, and instructed her in beginning goat care. After working with us, she felt prepared to house and care for her goats and moved forward confidently.

  • Rita wanted to add laying hens to the teaching garden at her preschool, but was unsure of how many birds the space could support, and how much work would be involved in keeping them. Before committing to the set-up expense, she wanted to make sure her plans were reasonable. We evaluated the proposed space and described the regular duties and expenses required by the number of birds that could live comfortably in that space.

  • Avery planned to expand his goat herd but needed guidance for how to affordably add appropriate fencing for his new herd makeup. We discussed fencing and management options and referred him to funding sources for these improvements.

  • Brie recently purchased a 16 acre property and asked us for guidance on where to locate various aspects of her future farming operation. In consideration of ecological concerns, local regulations, and Brie’s ultimate vision, we advised her on how to move forward within those parameters.
